Commemorate the 150th birthday of Canada!

What better gift to give our young country than our best efforts to be and stay healthy.

Dancing is exercise, develops muscle, enhances balance, introduces us to other Canadians, and YES safeguards our memory banks as it creates new paths of communication in the brain.

So please join us for our coming events and dance your way to 150 minutes of fun (or much more…). The more you dance the better your chances of winning. So come to the workshops,  maximize your minutes and have fun.

Here is how you can do that:

Friday April 21, 2017 – Paso Doble Line Dance (7:00p – 8:30p)

That is 90 minutes of dancing to the instructions of our wonderful professional Alexandra McPherson.  No partner needed.

We have two hours (120 minutes) of social dancing thereafter to socialize, dance, and collect minutes.

Saturday May 13, 2017 – Sock Hop Dance

Join us to dance the evening away. We have 1 hour workshop in East Coast Swing by our own talented club instructor Lynne Kobe.  That is 60 minutes for the workshop then as many dances as you want till midnight. (That is over 240 minutes of possible dancing).

Saturday June 10, 2017 – Country Dance

Join us to dance the evening away. We have 1 hour workshop Country Two Step by the lovely and fantastic Professional Kim Donaghy.  That is 60 minutes for the workshop then as many dances as you want till midnight. (That is over 240 minutes of possible dancing).

To give Canada our best effort we are encouraging all our members to do more than the 150 minutes.  We will have someone at the desk at each venue recording the minutes danced as reported by you.

The UCBDC is offering two (2) drop in tickets to the two (2) members with the highest participation minutes at each of events listed above.

Here is how it works:

a) Register at the desk when you come in with a name and email.
b) We will assign the workshop value of 90 or 60 minutes if you attend the workshop
c) Report to the desk duty the number of songs you danced (we will assign 3 minutes per song), every 5 dances.

At the club dances use the sheets of music left at each table to identify and record the songs you danced to.

d) We will add up the numbers and email the winners after each event.

Winning is fun.  Luckily all of the participants are winners as they have fun, get healthy and celebrate our country in the socially pleasant environment that Canada is famous and celebrated for.

All events take place at the Marlborough Park Community Association ().

See you all there! Bring your friends!
